Ally Morris

I am a PhD Candidate in the HI-CYCLES group at the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa.

My research interests are rooted in ocean observations to understand local and global biogeochemical processes. I aim to tackle drift within Aanderaa optodes, the primary oxygen sensor on Biogeochemical Argo floats, by conducting repeat lab calibrations. This work is especially important as biases in O2 measurements will propagate through algorithms used to adjust float-based pH and nitrate estimates. Such biases in oxygen thus have the potential to impact the assessments of ocean processes.

Before joining the HI-Cycles group I got a B.Sc. in Marine Science from California State University, Monterey Bay and then a M.Sc. in Oceanography from the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa.

If you don’t find me in the lab I will most likely be outdoors. I love to love climb, backpack, and surf. On the chance outside is not an option I love to knit and sew!
